THE MET IN NEW LIGHT - I
The Metropolitan Museum in New York City re-opened its European Paintings: 1300-1800 galleries, following a $150 million project replacing skylights and artificial lighting, and re-installing 700 artworks. The much-anticipated new installation mixes different regions, cultures, and styles, pairs traditional and modern artworks, emphasizes women and previously overlooked artists, and thus offers a revision of the story of European painting. Touring the first half of the galleries in the chronology, we will have a comparative exploration of works by Tiepolo, Cézanne, El Greco, Picasso, Caravaggio and others, through vividly detailed images.
